Washington warmed slowest of all states over past 30 years — but what does it mean for climate change?
Thirty years ago this week, NASA climate expert James Hansen gave groundbreaking testimony before Congress. He told them that human-caused global warming was already happening. Time has proved him right, according to a new analysis of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data by The Associated Press (AP). Nick Bond is quoted.
Copper River experiencing second lowest commercial salmon harvest in 50 years

As of June 10, the Copper River weir shows that 154,866 reds have passed the counter since May 18. In the same period last year, 320,484 sockeye had swum up the river. Nick Bond is mentioned.
Seattle the next Saint-Tropez? Not quite, but Mediterranean climate trends continue
One look outside Thursday would have most people thinking otherwise. Gray, windy and 64 degrees. Snow in the mountains over the weekend. The idea that Seattle is anything like Saint-Tropez in the summer seems laughable. But given current climate trends, a more Mediterranean-climate is not too far off, said NOAA Climatologist Nick Bond, who is studying the atmosphere and ocean as part of a joint effort between the University of Washington and NOAA. Researchers scan Cascadia coast for methane gas
Researchers with Oregon State University and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have documented 1,000 underwater seeps of methane gas along the Pacific Northwest coast between Northern California and the Canadian border over the past two years. PMEL's Earth Ocean Interactions work is referenced. Drs. Tamara Baumberger and Robert Embley are featured.
