Kimberly
Williams Kimberly is
participating in NOAA's Teacher At
Sea Program aboard the R/V Thompson. Kimberly teaches at Miller Place
High School on Long Island in New York State. She also is an adjunct faculty
member of the State University of New York
through which she coordinates the University in the High School
Science Research Program. She recently completed her Master of Science
degree in Marine Sciences and is now looking forward to broadening her
horizons and sharing her diverse experiences with her students, colleagues,
family and the public. Kimberly hopes that by remotely sharing her adventures
on the Submarine Ring of Fire Cruise, she will encourage others to respect
the world around them and share her passion for learning about it. She
will be posting daily journal articles about her experience at sea and
the NeMO project.
Nancy Steinberg
Nancy
Steinberg is a biologist and public outreach specialist working with the
NOAA PMEL lab in Newport, OR. She will be receiving daily updates from the
Thompson on the progress of the expedition to Axial seamount and a related
expedition at nearby Explorer Ridge, including pictures, video clips, and
log entries. Nancy will then present
that information to the public twice daily in the auditorium of the Public
Wing of the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR.
A
recent East Coast transplant to the Oregon coast, Nancy previously worked
for nearly 8 years for the Hudson River Foundation in New York City. She
is currently working on other projects related to tracking the health
of New York Harbor, protecting drinking water nationwide, and educating
the public about marine biotechnology research in Oregon.

Vicki Osis /Bill Hanshumaker
Vicki and Bill are Sea Grant Marine
Education Specialists at the Hatfield Marine Science Center. Vicki
selects and works with the NEMO teachers. She coordinates programs for
teachers and students K-12 as well as providing workshops for teachers
on a wide variety of marine topics. Bill develops the Hatfield Marine
Science Center Public Wing's current displays on the NeMO cruise.
