PacOOS cruise August 2009
In August 2009, the PMEL Carbon Group was invited by our colleagues Dr. Bill Peterson of NOAA's Northwest Fisheries Science Center and Dr. Jay Peterson of Oregon State University to participate in a ~10-day long cruise conducted extending from northern California up the coast to northern Washington. The primary objective of the PacOOS cruise was to continue an important time-series on the biological oceanography of the northern California Current ecosystem. PMEL's Carbon Group collected and analyzed ~200 samples for dissolved inorganic carbon and total alkalinity along the transect lines offshore from Crescent City, CA; Newport, OR; and Queets River, WA. The carbon data from this cruise have not yet been published.
PMEL Carbon Group was fortunate to be able to participate in similar cruises again in May and August 2010. More information will be posted from all cruises when data analyses are complete.
