P06W
The P06W hydrographic survey consisting of 128 Rosette/CTD/LADCP casts, 60 trace metals rosette sections, underway shipboard ADCP measurements, deployment of 2 APEX Profilers and 6 Iridium float deployments was carried out in the southern Pacific Ocean nominally along 32°S on the R/V Melville. The ship departed Brisbane, Australia on 21 November 2009 and ended in Papeete, Tahiti on 2 January 2010.
Up to 36 water samples and CTD data were collected on each Rosette/CTD/LADCP cast, usually made to within 15 meters of the bottom. Salinity, dissolved oxygen and nutrient samples were analyzed for up to 36 water samples from each cast of the principal Rosette/CTD/LADCP program.
Water samples were measured for DIC, pH, Total Alkalinity, and CFCs. Additional water samples DOC/TDN, Helium/Tritium, 13C/14C, CDOM, Chlorophyll a, bacterial cell count, POC, δ15N of NO3 and Cyanobacterial DNA enumeration were collected and stored for shore analysis. Underway surface pCO2, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, fluorometer, meteorological and acoustical bathymetric measurements were made.
