P02 - 2022
The 2022 re-occupation of P02W along 30°N in the Pacific was defined by a week-long isolation, followed by a week-long delay, then a quick start, a well-defined crossing of the Kuroshio, deep western casts including the Izu-Ogasawara Trench, supported by a nearly continuous spell of calm weather and seas, and no interruption to routine deployments and recoveries. Then after a brief stop in Honolulu, more of the same continuing on to San Diego, CA.
There was a total of 186 CTD stations using a 36-bottle rosette. Biology samples were obtained approximately every third station. 14 GO-BGC floats were deployed. The planned station spacing included very close spacing down the Japan coast and across the region of the Kuroshio its large loop and generally 30 nm spacing across the rest of the section fnishing with a very close spacing up the Continental shelf through the California Current System.
